Hi chaps,

Well, this is a crack for sure - the question is whether it's paint or structural?

It's on the top tube of a carbon road frame, looks to have been knocked with a knee to crack it like that.

Any opinions? - I'v adjusted the contrast on the photo to show the crack better.

Cheers

Ricks

Can't see it on my phone but it's in the middle of the tube and hence under low stress.

I'd just keep riding and keep an eye on it. It's not going to suddenly collapse.

Bet you don't tho!

That was my thought, I remember having a Whippet which had a knee knock and looked very similar, On one had a look at it and said the same....

Al said it's OK so i'd not worry about it.
Just tape a spoon to it and carry on as if nothing's ever happened. 😆

If it doesn't flex more than it used to (or a similar bit of the frame does) under pressure, it may well just be paint. If it is cracks it will cost you less than £100 for a perfect repair from a good carbon specialist, so all is not lost.
