Will my 3x9 front slx shifter work with a 10 speed double front mech? or is the cable pull too different??

I've been trying to get an xt 9 spd triple front mech to work with some new 28-40t double front rings. I either get chain rubbage, ring rubbage or a dumped chain. The 10 speed double mechs look to be shorter in the cage so can get inner ring clearance and get the mech low enough to avoid dumping the chain.

yeah is should work and yeah you will need the proper front mech for the chainset for best results.
