I know that BB30 wont fit in a threaded frame due to spindle length amongst other factors but I have heard that BB30 386 cranks will fit a standard threaded frame using the BSA 30 bottom brackets with the outboard bearings as the 386 spindle is a bit longer? With this in mind will my FSA K Force 386 3 arm chainset fit a threaded frame using the BSA 30 bottom bracket?Has anyone tried it and can give a definitive answer?

BB386 is a 30mm spindle to fit an 86mm wide BB shell - the same as a 68mm threaded shell with external bearings. BB30 is designed for a 68mm shell with internal bearings.

Sweet,so it will definitely fit then?Any other manufacturers do a version of the BSA30 bb?I can only see one company that do them.I wouldnt mind a ceramic one for longevity.

Hope,Zipp,Wheels Mfg,Rotor,Praxxis. All will require a dedicated tool and possibly a spacer or 2.
Ceramic bearings do little for longevity. It's dirt contamination that does for BB's and even if the bearings are super hard ceramic, the races are still steel.

Ceramic bearings are designed for high-speed industrial applications like 20,000rpm steady loads with no contamination. They don't like shock and contamination - a dirty ceramic bearing at low rpm = no benefits except a lightening of your wallet.
