Without knowing the exact trail referenced I don't think the ops first point is a bad one. People standing / sitting in the middle of fast bits of trail is pure stupidity. Just move off to the side, it's not hard.

I don't think I'd have stopped on a fun bit to suggest this sensibly to the dad's (who should know better), but perhaps 'get off the trail' shouted at them wasn't the most tactful option.

I think everyone having a pop at the op for this is very stereotypical of a lot of people on this forum. Starting reading the thread I was waiting for the 'entitled' comment amongst others. Presumably from the vag car group (mostly Skoda / Audi / VW) driving people who feel entitled themselves

I don't mind the first part, but blanking people who were lost just because of their clothing or birthplace is just ridiculous. I had 4 kids there 3 weekends back on ASDA bike ask me where the car park was. I was on a Strava ride, but I still stopped for 15s to tell them which way.

I think saying you nearly had a punch up because someone you shouted at called you out is not a great thing. I’m not sure what kind of car a person who acts like this drives but I’m going for a Vauxhall Corsa with stickers on the back quoting Fast and Furious.

It is a reasonable point, but you don't make reasonable points by shouting angrily at people as you hurtle past. You say 'You'd probably be better off standing just off the trail cos people come hurtling down here'. They'd probably have gone 'oh yeah ok sorry mate'.

I've managed to stop people from walking up the final descent at Cwmcarn ( 😯 ) this way, and not been sworn at.

To be honest, I was expecting a better bite from my comment, but it seems this thread doesn't need any stirring.

Presumptuous on the 'lads' front as well. Women, girls and transgender people also ride mountain bikes and frequent the forum.

All I will say, and this isn’t being stereotypical but sometimes I feel uneasy either riding past two or more young men that haven’t got bikes and especially if some were asking for directions...... it all depended how they looked/acted whether I’d stop tbh.... this comes from someone riding a local small bike skills area on his own near where I used to live, two lads stop him on the trail, assault him, steal his bike.....they are out there. I’m friendly but also learning not to be too naive

I was later out this morning that usual at 10:00. (usually out at 08:00)
I had to stop/slow down for all sorts of things
- families on bikes
- people with dogs
- horse riders
- horses
- pigs (let loose to eat the acorns)

Managed to not shout at anyone or get into any fights. What did I learn from my experience, make sure I get out at 08:00.

I literally had to yank my bars to miss them!!
