Ok, my recent purchase of a full suss is a tad spoiled by an annoying issue. I keep getting awful awful gear changes whilst riding plus bad chainsuck.

The bike is 2-3 months old and only ridden now and then as its a second bike. The gear change is somewhat vague as in click shifter the gears either change nicely or not at all then to top it off going over bumpy ground it then shifts into gear . However worst of all is the chainsuck which happens between rings when shifting mostly for no apparent reason. Middle ring was a bit bent but got straightened on first service as did the gear indexing etc but its the worst shifting i have ever used, almost dangerous as it jams up drivetrain .

Any ideas as to the issue?

Lots of ideas, gear cables possibly a touch short causing shifting when suspension articulates, poor quality/dirty cables causing drag when shifting, stiff links/dirty drivetrain/burred chainrings causing chainsuck, bent mech/mach hanger.Any or all of the above are likely causes, seeing the bike in the flesh would probably make diagnosis much easier. Have you got a trusted local shop you could take it to for a check over?

The drivetrain is spotless and clean. Cables are prob low quality as shifters/front mech are Alivio (OE). Rear mech is deore. Rear cassette sram 981 . Chainset is truvativ blaze (which appears to be made of cheese). Chain is not stiff either.

Guess another lbs maybe worth going to.
