Annoying brake hose problem

Trying to get a Hope brake hose O:D5mm into the hole on the frame(nukeproof mega) TOO F*****G SMALL, so it doesnt appear to want to thread through.

Obviously this is near 2.30am and patience is ragged this time in the morning, but finally got the hose cut to length etc.

The guide cable thats already through is plastic, so i stretched that so it is thinner, and able to fit inside hose so it has a guide to follow, and that goes through fine, but try as I might the hose appears to be a smidgen too wide.

It might be because the frame fitting grommet thing is rubber and you need to push harder, squeeze, wobble to get it to feed in but currently it seems it doesnt want to.

Ive not got any fittings on it, barb etc, just the hose itself.

.

Someone tell me that it is just a super tight fit and you need to force it in, although I'll try that tomorrow and this moan might be superfluous, but right now its just bugging the F&%@*£$ tits off me.

Because theres a guide wire thing, I cant remove that and enlarge the hole as i lose the guide and that defeats the purpose of having a guide there in the first place, but I cant fathom why the hole needs to be so tight given probably every other make of brake hose is also 5mm.

.

Barstards 😡 😡 😡

I hope thats possible Si, though its a triple thing and already has the rear mech and dropper housings going through it that are connected up, but I'd undo all that if it makes it easier. I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion 🙂

Not familiar with nukeproof but if it has one guide/ grommet for all three cables , are all three holes the same size ?

As mentioned, however much hassle it is to undo everything else, you'll need the grommet out of the frame I'd say

Cable tie it to the frame. Go riding.

They are yes. Apparently in nukeproof land they believe one size fits all.

Have you lubed the rubber??

Lubricating the rubber has in the past helped entry into a tight hole, but there was a bit more give,  and i dont think that is applicable here.

It's possible though that the same technique of forcing it forward while wobbling it about might also work for this application.

Cable tie it to the frame. Go riding.

Outrageous suggestion. I didnt spend all that money on a frame to revert back to yesteryear. This isn't Retrobike you know 😯

Hooray, Simon's suggestion wins the day and all is well again with the world 😀

I did nick the casing of the hose trying to manipulate it out the hole at the top with a pair of needled nosed pliers, and while im tempted just to leave that as is, there is enough free hose should I want to snip that bit off. The only other annoying part of the process.

But its done now so thanks to Si and the other suggestions.
