I have a stretchy neoprene one but it gets uncomfortable after an hour. I was thinking of trying one of the lace up ones.

How do people find them? I liked the idea of being able to adjust and a bit of padding for bonus.

I would use it for biking and non biking duties. I only have one bad ankle, not sure if it would be weird wearing only one when riding!

I have a 661 lace up ankle brace. I tended to use it on uplift days with the DH bike as I get real grief if I don’t tense my ankle on landings.

It it has a bit of bulk but fitted in under my shoe, it’s been very useful and has left me in a much better state at the end if each days use. I keep it handy and will be taking it to the Alps this Summer.

Thanks for the reply. 661 was what I was looking at. Do wear 2 or just one on the bad ankle?

I have the old 661 ankle support, not that there seems to be much difference compared to the new ones.

I just use it on my dodgy ankle, although I have got to say I started doing a lot of ankle strengthening exercises on advice from my physio and have found I don't need it really anymore

Might have to look into ankle exercises too then. Mine is mainly the big tendon on the front and also sideways stability

Just the left ankle for me.

I mainly use a wobble board, only issue is that it has made my ankle a lot thicker so as a result some boots are now less comfortable

A good friend of mine broke his ankle last year. He wears these now :  https://www.thespacebrace.com/   swears by them.

I tore some bits in my ankle/foot, back when I used to play football, and this helped ALOT afterwards :  https://www.physioroom.com/product/Aircast_A60_Ankle_Brace/3121/36207.html

The main issue I had after injury was ankle stability, the Aircast one is very stiff laterally. But, like Graham has said, strengthening your ankle is the best way forward.

Since tearing tendons in one of my ankles over 6 years ago and the subsequent op meaning I can cycle (with support) & walk but not run I've used the older 661 lace up ankle support until I tried the McDavid one, which I've used for years. Very supportive and slim enough to fit inside all my shoes....this is the latest version.... https://www.mcdavid.eu/shop/195-ankle-brace/
