anyone used these?

£399 seems like a helluva deal for a 1520g wheelset?
Was looking at Fulcrum RM0's bur these are cheaper and lighter. But are they as solid?
They're not going to be as stiff, but they're good wheels. I know several people who use them, they're not as popular now there are Stan's rims and things, and the hubs have reasonably small bearings so they don't last forever.
I'd have them.
so these or another £200 for the fulcrums?
Anything but the Fulcrums!
Another £200 for the brand new Carbon XXX Lites I'm selling maybe 🙂
interested how you've arrived at 'these ones or the Fulcrums for £200 more'? Most people either set a budget and chose what they want within that or chose what they want regardless of cost.
why are you not looking at anythign inbetween?
finally, have a look on 'justridignalong' some great wheels available there
Aye, if you want lightweight look at the new ZTR Podium wheelsets they got in last week, £590 for a 1230g wheelset. Only if you're light though...
Dont know why, had my heart set on the fulcrums for a while, but they are so damn expensive Im beginning to think I cant justify it.
Nobody seems to like them, even though the reviews are excelent and they seem to be stiff and bomb proof with excellent campag hubs?
What are my other options for a 15XXg wheelset £400-£500?
These american classics are definitely tempting, not sure I like the white versions though, bit too much "American" on them:
XXX Lites, all the way. £600 to you, that's half price! 🙂
I'll give up now. I'd look at custom building, too many proprietary parts to go wrong on the Fulcrums, spokes etc, if you want a dependable wheelset get some 240s on Olympics or something.
Been thinking about a set of these myself, although definitely in the black rather than the white.
Are they ok for the heavier rider?
fairly positive on them here: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=365518
So epicsteve, whos gonna be the guinea pig me or you? I am very very tempted.
Always a tough choice! I tend to go for hand built wheels as they're easy to look after and being 95 kilos light weight factory wheels don't stay true for too long. I recommend www.justridingalong.com - the site is excellent and they'll email you with advice on rims, spokes and hubs for price and riding style - £300 - £400 is a good bracket for some tough and 1600gm wheels. If you ride a lot in winter think about hope hubs though - they'll last longer.
Got a pair from merlin a couple of years, they've not skipped a beat with 12.75 stone bouncing around two mayhems, 24 12 etc. the qr skewers are rubbish though.
Same here inigomontoya - got a set from Merlin about 2 yrs ago and they've been trouble free, riding a couple of times a week. Well, mincing delicately rather than riding, but you get the point. Skewers are complete tosh tho, swapped em for Shimano & happy days.
ordered this weekend. will let you know how I get on.
Whats wrong with the skewers btw?
Mine started locking up & became difficult to open/close, and just got to be a PITA to use.
