Hello

I'm planning on building up some lightweight race wheels and have been looking at some American Classic Disc Hubs.

Any reviews/opinions on them would be appreciated as I've heard some horror stories that have related to their road hubs but unsure if these are isolated issues.

Cheers

I herd bad things about their earlier hubs but understood current ones to be OK.

nonk - that's what I've heard.

Does it feel as though it's the freehub going? Don't think I could handle that

I've had some MTB ones in the past and they felt fine, very quick uptake. Not got road ones, only track and of course there's instant uptake on those!

I've got some and raced on them last year

Light set of wheels, 1400 grams built onto velocity rims (well i think they're light!). They do take some looking after though, I've had to replace the bearings twice but I guess thats the price you pay for light wheels. Keep them stripped, lubed and tightened and they're fine. No problems with freehub engagement.

I'm selling mine as I've moved to Stans/Tune. £110 + postage and they're yours

Mine are 2 1/2 yrs old & still on the original bearings with virtually zero fettling, probably ridden twice a week on average. No probs with take-up speed either.
