Am 90% decided on a set of these. red hubs with the black n white rims. Absolutely love the look and the stats 14869 the pair is amazing for the money. Plus there supposed to be almost bullet proof.

Anyone got experience of them?

Pros, Cons?

Cheers

I've had a set since March. I bought them for my Epic but have also used them on a couple of hardtails. I also went with the black and white rims and red hubs:

I've yet to see a downside. They're a lot lighter than the Hope XC/X717's I was running before, I've not noticed any issues with flexing etc. and also think they look great. I'll probably invest in another set to run on my Zion, rather than switching the wheels between bikes.

I've not tried them tubeless yet though - not sure if I ever will, even though I do have some Specialized 2Bliss tyres I could use.

A couple of our team have them - they seem good so far. True, light ish, smooth and the freehub hasn'd died. What more do you want?

There's a set being tested right now for a forthcoming wheels round-up/review in the magazine. 🙂

1550g the pair. Same sort of market as the Crossmax SX wheels, sort of "enduro/XC/trail" and they seem to take up to 2.4" tyres without a problem which some narrower XC rims won't.

I like American Classic wheels (I've got a set on my track bike), there's a good range without being overwhelmingly confusing, they look cool, spares are easy and cheap to get hold of but they just don't seem to have the market following yet.

I've been running a pair of the MTB350 wheels for a couple of years; in my experience they come pretty close to breaking Mr Bontrager's famous axim... (Strong, Light, Cheap; pick 2).

I have managed to flat the rear rim, however that was from repeated ham-fisted attempts to cross waterbars at speed on the sligachan trail on Skye. Generally well recommended. In sorting out the rear I swapped over the alloy nipples for brass ones, heavier but easier to maintain.

I might be tempted by a pair of their 'AM' wheels next time; wider rims with a touch more weight.

Love them - light, trick looking and strong.

Something a little different too ..... !

Just went tubeless last week, having run them tubed for the past 3 months or so. Liking the tubeless feel.

Yeh, this is what I mean, no-one has a bad word to say. Think the 2010 Mtb tubeless are being advertised at weighing 1486grams that's as light as SLRs! At almost half the price, plus I think they look better.

Thanks for the replies.

Hey gee, you the Tunsall G? You'll know who's bike I saw em on if you are!

Hi, no not the Tunstall Gee. I ride on the Salsa team and a couple of our riders have a set of them. I don't think they use them tubeless, though.

Just got a pair of these and they seem nice but having problems mounting tyres on tubeless. I`m used to Stans Crests where you can get the tyre to seat using an inner tube - however the bead rim on the ac is much thinner and the tyre rim wont stay seated. Any advice please before i pull all my hair out? cheers
