............... it's a dangerous sport,

All I did was question this. ๐Ÿ™‚

thread was dull anyway.

thread was dull anyway.
the original post was concern over a possible fellow rider, and sharing knowledge regarding damaged trails. It really is quite immature to try and prove yourself right all the time.
There's other threads if you find this one so dull.

which is over in 3 posts.

I find the posting about injured riders that no one knows somewhat ghoulish anyway.

then there is the whole question of calling ambulances for minor injuries as well

if its that dangerous a sport you ow it to yourself and everyone else to gain the knowledge and experience to deal with the danger and the consequences.

only because it was hijacked.

then why hang around, you come across as trolling. Chances are someone will know them, and one broken wrist might be minor, I would say two is pretty major.

Less that one page before the usual bickering. Nice one, pat yourselves on the back.

Back on topic, healing vibes to the Swinley faller.

Deadkenny walked back to the car park with a broken back and mashed up face if I remember correctly. Not sure that's on the list of things to do with potential spinal injuries but one advantage of serious concussion combined with adrenaline; they can't figure out how hurt they are. You know, in a totally non-dangerous way.

@TJ - a lot of my mountain biking takes place in a largely uncontrolled environment, almost all the trails I ride are unofficial, the obstacles haven't been sanctioned, checked for safety and are surrounded by trees to crash into if you get it wrong. An unofficial trail through the woods can be less safe than a black run in the alps.

@deadk, max respect for getting back on the bike.

Healing vibes to the injured biker.

TJ - statistics please. where are your injury facts coming from?

20+mph, downhill, packed between trees and flying over loose/rocky/muddy changeable terrain and wearing nowt but a polystyrene lid is dangerous in Chuck Norris' book.
Take a troll pill

Just back online, 'twas me. Overcooked the tabletop and landed hard. Out cold for two minutes and can't remember the crash, the period waiting for the ambulance or 1hrs riding previous to it.

End result 6 nights in hospital. Dislocated one wrist, broke the other into many pieces. Broke the radius in the arm with the dislocated wrist. Plates in both arms, plus a pin and screw in the right one. I'll be off the bike for a while. Special thanks to my riding buddies who stayed with me while waiting for the ambulance during which I am told a kept asking the year, month and where I was

Shit man those are some nasty injuries. Good luck.
Must have had quite a significant blow to the head to have that period of amnesia.
Lucky nothing serious there.

Glad to you have you with us Martin.

I've broken both wrists (separately) off my bike. If it's any consolation, the physio hurts more than the break!

Do anything you can to keep the fingers moving - curl/uncurl etc.

But if you're not dead TJ won't believe that mountain biking can be dangerous!

You should blame Phill and me, he was talking last week about learning to jump on those tabletops, and then I pointed out they're not accessible to the ambulances!

Your legs still worked, I'm sure TJ will suggest you made your own way to hospital....

Hope you make full recovery.

Ouch, that sounds very nasty, have a speedy and full recovery. If it's any consolation you're memory should come back, mine did apart from the point of the actual accident, which is no bad thing.

Thanks for the kind words. I believe there was a debate about Frimley or Royal Berks. Royal Berks won as can be seen on Strava

Food was much better than expected

Great news that you are back with the land of the living. All the best on a speedy and full recovery. What shape is your helmet in given that you have forgotten a chunk of time. I assume you will be replacing it. If not I would suggest that you bin it and get a new one before you get back on the bike.

BTW any pictures or in STW words "it did not happen" ๐Ÿ˜€

According to Strava, you ended up in Frimley. Or perhaps the part of you attached to the GPS watch.

Wrong person dood

Aha! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I wonder if there is now a segment covering the trolley ride between A&E and wards.

Royal Berkshire is a nice hospital, though. Wishing a quick recovery to the latest Swinley victim...

Yeah, was just comparing hospital GPS trips, mine was Frimley ๐Ÿ˜€

I did edit out the rest of it after arrival. It ran for 5 hours after that before the battery died but inside the building the GPS just went nuts.

I'm just glad you were wearing a helmet fella. Although who would be stupid enough to ride a mountain bike without one?

Hang on
