renton - MemberYep Fair one like but as I said to norhtwind it works both ways !
Exactly right! And since you didn't do anything to avoid it, you can't complain too much that neither did your seller. You both had it in your control to avoid the situation you're now in. Yet you're acting like you've been wronged and it's all his fault.

The Lord works in mysterious ways
nick1962 - is that a Halo light he has?
Don't quite understand why you're so worked up about it, but assume it's because you didn't like his attitude when you put in your offer... it's just fine to post at the next weekend.

Renton, look on the bright side...
Kinda rubbing it in, don't you think?
Ok let's see then......
How many of you think it's acceptable for a seller to send something out to you nearly a week after you paid for it without telling you that was going to happen beforehand??
It's irrelevant how I paid as I chose to pay that way.
I'd try and avoid it but if I found myself in that position as a seller I wouldn't feel too bad that it was taking me 4 days to post it.
I'd tell the buyer there was a delay and give a refund if asked though.

Yes. It's a private seller, not a web super store and folk have lives. If you need something urgently, arrange it before you pay.

a) its not a week its a few days, stop exaggerating your just making yourself look even sillier.
b) I think it is acceptable.
c) You didn't do anything to warn the seller that you needed it quickly.
d) Throwing around allegations on the forum is not acceptable.

Yeah, taking the money Tuesday and mailing on Saturday seems perfectly acceptable to me for a private sale.
Msp what allegations are you on about?
Let's count shall we Tuesday to Saturday is 5 day's in my books go to Tuesday at the earliest the week after for delivery is 7 day's
Markie msp and wordnumb I think I will avoid buying anything from you lot!!
Renton, reverse the transaction and buy from a shop if it's that much of a problem. You'll be able to do that as only an idiot would pay by PayPal Gift or Bank Transfer in these circumstances and you're not an idiot are you?

Errr your question above was asking about sending something not delivery... Seems you can't make your mind up. Can you put me on the list of people you won't buy from as well please?

Awww poor little baby didn't like the answer to his question.
renton - MemberHow many of you think it's acceptable for a seller to send something out to you nearly a week after you paid for it
4 days. Though since it was never realistic for it to post out the same day that you paid for it, in fact it's less than half a week later than the earliest you could expect.
Whilst renton is a bit....precious, not giving a refund (for whatever reason) is out of order. It won't cost the seller anything. It's not been posted, there has been no sale yet.
Give the seller a chance. Renton paid this morning. The seller may not have been anywhere near his email all day. Knickers+twist+premature+idiot
Has the seller said they won't refund? He's probably not finished work yet?

+1 better add me to the list. I've another name for not to sell to list as well.
I've made the effort to post stuff out in the same day as I've had payment !!
So it seems that on here it is reasonable for a buyer to wait that long without been told in the first place they will be waiting a while!
Bruneep is that directed at me?
Seems that way.
In response to comment before your bruneep one.
Boblo yet again for your benefit.... He emailed me this morning to say he won't be sending it AFTER I had paid him
Everyone knows what happened in what order. They just don't agree with you.
Renton, for your benefit:
You've asked 'am I right to feel a bit unhappy etc'
The consensus is no, you're not right
You are also coming across as a bit of a childish whinger which is why you're getting all the 'added value' responses
I'd pack it in now and go and do your homework
Renton, for your benefit:You've asked 'am I right to feel a bit unhappy etc'
Yes, you have the absolute right to feel justified in your feelings. If that's how you feel, that's how you feel. It's not rocket science.
Whether other people would share your feelings is however an entirely different matter.
But, regardless of how OTHER people feel, you are unhappy and have cancelled the transaction and requested a refund. That is your right and your choice.
P.S. I'd have done the same.
renton - MemberI've made the effort to post stuff out in the same day as I've had payment !!
And? It's not impossible, you just can't expect it. You sent the payment first thing in the morning, most folks won't see that til later in the day. If it were me, there's a small chance I'd see it at lunchtime, but even then it's not getting posted out that day because I won't have it with me, and it won't be addressed (since only about 50% of "complete" sales ever seem to end with money changing hands- the posting process starts when I see the money)
In conclusion,
FFS....its a private sale not chain reaction cycles. Posting on Saturday is totally acceptable. What would you have done if he'd posted it out 2nd class on thursday, it would probably not reach you till tuesday anyway? Would you still be on here whining about it?
If you needed it for a specific date you should have checked first.
In reality you've probably done yourself no favours by posting this, given you've come on here bad mouthing him I wouldn't blame him for telling you to do one...
sorry for ranting, but this kind of thread really riles me.
you are unhappy and have cancelled the transaction and requested a refund. That is your right and your choice.
No it's not.
Where did you get that idea from ?
The distance selling regulations don't apply here.
He's paid a private individual, by Paypal Gift (obviously)
He has no rights whatsoever, other than that he receives the item, and that its "as described"
(And even that isn't set in stone as he was daft enough to send it as a gift)
I am sorry you all feel as though I am whining about it, maybe I am to a point.
I am just trying to find out if it's acceptable to tell someone after they had paid that you will have to wait for a Upto 5 says before the item is posted.
Judging by all the answers I'm getting I guess it is.
Maybe I will start hanging on to stuff before sending it out nearly a week later.
Actually that boll ocks as me being an honest chap couldn't do that!
Back in my box I go...
Renton, Renton, Renton... Let it go. 4 days (excluding the day you paid as it's unlikely the chap took your lamp to work 'just in case') isn't ''nearly a week'.
Just a helpful suggestion; in future if you want something by a certain time, make sure you agree this before paying. It avoids unnecessary disappointment. Oh, and don't pay by PayPal Gift or your next post could be about missing iPads....
Night night. ๐
Ha fair one about the iPads!!
To be honest I could of mentioned it I guess!!
Would of saved 4 pages of slating, I'm thick skinned though
As I don't want this thread to slip off the page before the seller has a chance to see it and respond.
Could someone tell me if Renton is right to feel unhappy?
I think we have established he has the right to feel however he chooses but the consensus is, it's unreasonable to castigate the seller in this case. HTH ๐
Just to set the record straight on this matter, I did email Renton .. when I finished work for the day & could access a computer ... and received this reply ....
" Paul.
Please accept my deepest apologies for all of this!!
I know you don't need to know all about my issues and I know it's no excuse but I'm having a bit of a hard time at work and I'm totally stressed out!!
I've acted like a bit of a **** to be honest and it was out of order.
I will let you know when the light turns up.
Regards
Steve "
........ Apologies were accepted & he will receive his light before the weekend ๐
Yes I have reacted like a bit of a tool over this !! ๐ณ
I was a bit too quick to jump in and start whining.
Paul,
Apologies once again !
Regards
Steve

Can someone summarise this thread for new comers to this topic
I will as I started it..
I was a bit of a knob !
thread closed
I love a happy ending.
In response to the title,
No. No you aren't, now.
I wouldn't expect a classifieds seller to post next day, I think weekend is reasonable. If I wanted something quickly I would have asked before handing over my money if they could get it in the post a bit sharpish for me.
This.
It's a private sale FFS! If I buy off the classifieds, I'll pay the cash and then ask when it'll be sent. As long as it's a reasonable time scale, all is well. If I want it sooner, I'll use a shop. Online or real.
It is good that renton has apologised, but by sending him the light before the weekend I can't help but think you are rewarding his bad behaviour. It is his parents i feel sorry for as they will suffer in the long run as his temper tantrums will only get worse.
Edited to correct ****y auto correct/fat finger error ๐
muggo magic .... patents?
