I wear two pairs of cycling shorts! There I've said it!

I do. My arse hurts.

I have those big fat grips that are more comfortable as well. I wear the brightest high vis jacket known to man. And in the dark, I look like a Blackpool illuminations!

Oh, my mid ride energy snack is a Wagon Wheel.

Be gentle.

Get a decent saddle, use decent (gel) chamois.

Those chamois gels are horrible. Taste of goat

Everything but the double shorts is fine. Consider changing saddles.

Unless you are riding ridiculous amounts, if its not comfortable enough that you forget about it, then you don't have the right saddle. Or possibly you have it set up wrong (nose too high or too low, for example).

As an experiment, I tried using these chamois things everyone else seems to think are essential. Turned out to be less comfy- held moisture and stopped the saddle supporting me properly. Back to standard boxers (well, with a little thought put into flat seams and that)

Try putting your shorts on the right way round and make sure you ain't got your member tucked round and inserted as a butt plug ๐Ÿ˜†

How long have you been riding for?
I think there's a lot to be said for putting up with the aches and pains to get to the point where your body just puts up with it. Which takes a while.
