So, them flies, bastids aren't they? When I have my bike atop my car, my stanchions eventually become pebble dashed with insect carcasses which seem to harden, harder than the Kashima that coats their point of death.
Does anyone else seem to have this problem? Does anyone have a solution? I saw these...

You need some nice rubber concertina-ing fork covers - you could leave them on all the time to protect the forks.

I have put pipe lagging on my fork legs when transporting it on top of a car in winter to protect from salt.
Employ a gentleman to kindly stand on the roof of said vehicle operating an antique fly swat. And a second, less distinguished, member of your staff to provide the same service for the gentleman himself, albeit with a common or Tesco's own device.
Besides which, shouldn't you be riding a horse or some other mode of transport which has evolved its own solution to the problem?

I am surprised you haven't already got a carbon fibre aero roof shroud for your dandyhorse... With Titanium hardware of course...

Womens tights, yep that's right, soapy water and womens tights will remove the hard bugs bodies from the front of cars, motorbikes, and stanchions if you like.

Simplest solution to this would be to turn your roof carrier(s) around so tha the bike faces backwards. Should divert most flies around your forks
Or as chief guru said above, squirt some silicone spray on and they won't stick on or harden.
I saw just the thing in Canada recently-Skinz bike protector which is a stretchy net which attaches to the saddle, handlebars and fork dropouts on a thule 561(front wheel out) carrier. looked just the job but quite expensive according to the guy who had it. Not sure if it would stretch over a front wheel as well but may be different versions available.
