Hi,
i have a 9 year old polished alu frame , with milky white streaks appearing . understand this is corrosion
but is it something to worry about in terms of frame failure?

If you lick the white streaks it'll turn your hair green. Other than that its nothing to worry about.

It is character, nothing else.

We managed to persuade a mate he had an on one seat post that had suffered aluminium corrosion. It had actually been stuffed with leftover sausage, stilton and mash while we were away one weekend and left for some time. He may have even emailed on-one about this (he never gave us a definitive answer to this when questioned)... On the plus side his bb set a new longevity record for Shimano HT2. I guess the steady stream of fat dripping down may have kept it well greased.

It could be corrosion but do you have any pictures?

If its a large hardtail with sliding drop outs then its about to fail any second and you need to pass it to your local STW friendly metallurgist ๐Ÿ™‚
