Got a bit carried away and ordered some from merlin last night

Looked at some reviews since and a lot of people saying they are not very hard wearing

Anyone any experience of them?

yes... and yes I worn out a small hole in a set, but then I ride in a predominantly sandy area, so wet sand on the saddle become like sandpaper.. BUT they have an 18month warrenty, and got sent back due to a faulty zip & replaced regardless of the hole. No problem with seams or delamination on mine, but then I wash them sparingly (why wash em? there waterproof!).

Cut down goretex ex-army trousers might be all the rage (I can't find em cheaper then the altura locally) but the altura's have served me well, and would buy them again - it's not like I expected them to indestructable.

Mine have been fine too, i rinse them off with water rather than throw them through the washing machine normally which may help. Have a small hole in the knee area (3/4s) from a crash but thats my fault not the shorts. Never head to Wales without them!
