[#10656888]

Chipps' editorial this month mentions the benefit of knowing your legal right to cycle in places. In mentioning a new sign that had popped up on a legit bridleway he says "The new sign in question reads ‘Cyclists please dismount’ along with the old ‘red line through a bicycle’ icon.
Is that sign actually not correct? No cycling signs don't have the red diagonal line through them. I thought the red line was to mark the end of a previously indicated prohibition/limit...
… so that sign means fill yer boots cycle guys (and e-cycle guys too, obvs).
All that fuss to fake a sign and they get it wrong.

Yeah, it's not an official no-cycling sign - he suspects put there by the owner of a house on the bridleway.
Also in the mag - superb BPW in sight. Love it 🙂

And I got a mention in the Arran article*

*Not going to mention Sanny getting the number of Munros wrong in his other article... I suspect there's one he wants to be/thinks it is a munro.... 🙂

Do they still do the Big Hitter top ten?

The sign on the bridleway looks like it was from the 'signs' section at B&Q or somewhere... 🙂

Red circle with red line through it, with a bicycle in the middle. I've checked with the ROW Officer and he says that it's nonsense and I'm welcome to ignore it (which I have). I do view it as a nice opportunity to practise a cyclocross dismount (and immediate remount)

You wish! You'll have to massage your own ego.

I hear you Nobeerinthefridge but as you and I both know, the number keeps changing! Bloody Munro redefining geographer gits!

Is disappointed, I was sure you had a hill in mind that had been 'cheated' from the list!

There's a bridleway near my house, goes over the A3 and leads to my route to the beach. Some building work going on and the builders stuck a 'no cycling' sign on the metal bar gate at the bottom. I didn't only ignore it, I peeled the sticker off and binned it 😀

If its not official, report it as litter.

If it's not official, report it as litter.

A lovely £500 fine for the pleasure of dodgy signage. Unfortunately doesn't work for landowners putting up litter on their own land.
