Hopped on this evening for a Z1 easy aerobic spin. Ticked off another route, Eastern 8 in Watopia, as it was just long enough to get me over my annual mileage target of 7300 miles 🎉

Keen to try ‘build me up’ but over like 18 weeks….

I think I’ll try something like that, it’s the only way I’m likely to get any fitness back but can’t commit to the full program in the 12 weeks or whatever it’s meant to be.

I fell off the wagon a bit on training - had got to 246w ftp and was feeling nice and fit on the bike at about 75kgs. Then I had a works Xmas do, got battered and then got run down and developed a chest infection 🤯

Bumped up to 77kgs in a few weeks and done absolutely no cardio or weight training. Got a gentle mtb in on the weekend and just doing a weights session before work today. Got a trainer road program scheduled to start first week of January and will get back on it properly then. Just going to do a few random activities this side of new years to keep things moving but keep it chilled.

RGT told me my FTP was now 279w....quite pleased with that, might do a proper test at some point to see if I can crack 280.....averaged 4.0w/kg over a 25min race.....only another 3w/kg to go before I can make my Sa Colobra KOM challenge at Easter!!!!!

I did a ride on Monday after being laid up with flu for 2 weeks. Not been that ill for a decade or so. Legs and lungs weren't great but it was just an easy spin.

I got to try out my new 32" monitor which I bought just before I was ill. It's a big improvement over the 22" I was using before but now I have no space for my FaceFan®️ so need to sort that out.

@weeksy - just looked at your race stats for that race via your ZP link. 85kg? 😂 I seem to remember in one of your suspension set-up threads (the Slayer one maybe?) you were swapping to a 95kg spring?! Been on a diet? 😉😃

Ooooh, that reminds me - need to update Zwift. The flu knocked me down from 74kg to 71.5kg although I expect I'll put that all back on in Christmas pudding in the next week 👍

85 is optimistic yes... but i'm not racing UCI rules and care very little 🙂

Zwifting is about entertainment for me... If it's not about that, i'm not riding.

Really, a drunk five year old could work it out, I wonder why you can't?

I've quite enjoyed your race write ups over the years @weeksy. I didn't realise you weren't really that bothered. Anyhoo, take from it what you will.

I'm currently on the Gran Fondo plan and quite enjoy it but the longer weekend Zone 2 stuff is a challenge - particlarly as late nights and bad diet = lack of motivation. So I think it's just a case of ticking over til New Year. Might try and tick off a few of the longer routes again.

I race for fun, i'm not going to get hung up on whether i'm a couple of KG over or under, or my trainer pressure was 10psi below or above optimal of if my calibration spindown was correct or wrong.

Yesterday on a climb we were overtaken by a D cat rider doing 8w/kg up the hill.... I'm guessing he's more in the wrong than some 🙂

it's not a precise thing, it's a game with the added bonus of fitness thrown in too.

It seems i've touched a nerve up there... but hey ho, i'm not going to lose sleep. If someone is worried about me racing in C cat on my MTB in the garage with a 5 year old turbo and trainer tyre, that's more their loss than mine 🙂

I don't really get how your (as in one's) enjoyment of a Zwift race can be altered by the stats used in the profile.
At the end of the day if you are a bit heavier, then you'll probably just end up in the next group down the road having the same sort of battles.
I don't update my weight with every 0.5kg fluctuation, but try to keep it pretty close as I want to see "where I am" compared to other Zwifters.

I'm never gonna be a powerhouse, but luckily am pretty light in the scheme of things and being a short-arse helps in the aero stakes too as I understand it within the Zwift world.
I'm still WAY faster in Zwift than I am in real life. I think they have some work to do, to make the pace more realistic.

I know. It's great isn't it. It's one benefit of me being 3 foot 4 inches tall.

Joke! It was a joke!

That's fair enough, it's a kind of a game after all, but we will have to take it into consideration when you do your next race report 😉

The thing is, other than in A cat, you’re better off weight doping THE OTHER WAY so you stay in C for example rather than jumping up to B.
Weeksy is in real danger of having to race as a crap B 😀

My slow-down in riding from June to September (medication issues) followed by weeks and weeks and weeks of a cold/cough/sinus/ears is, I hope, finally at an end... my first proper Strava'd ride today since 25th Sept, and first Zwift since 6th Sept. A very gentle spin around Volcano Flats with average power about 20% down, but it's a first step in the right direction for a good while, and I don't want to push my body too hard when it's only just beginning to recover.

I've really struggled with Zwift this year. Previous two I used it a lot in the grim outside Nov-Feb period. Start of this year, really couldn't get back into it, and not much has changed since then! I don't race tho, so tend to do either group rides or pace partners. I'm sure the "C" pace partners go at more than advertised! Or maybe it's just my inability to react to terrain changes.

Daren't do an FTP test at the mo. Was 255 at my 'best', won't be near that now. Still I did change the bar tape (which might have been original) as that was horrible. And 'fixed' my Directo again by adding some grease to the threaded shaft to quieten the notorious squeak. I nearly bought one of those hybrid Neo's that were on sale but the Directo is at least 4000km in and still trucking on.

Might do another plan now you can space them out a bit. Don't think I'll ever go back and try and beat my sub 1hr Alpe time or ride the stupidly long 3 hour+ routes tho.

Still does mean I ride outside more. Just off to do the Gap in, er, challenging, conditions. If that's as grim as expected might be back on the turbo after all!
