Mercurial creative midfield genius of the workshop!

Rounded stem bolt on Tyred jr's s/h bike, neither end proud enough to cut a slot. Original owner blamed.

Bathed in pen fluid
Torqued up the other one
No dice
Hammered in a torx
No joy
Drilled from the bottom
Nope
What is this bolt made of??
Bolt extractor
No way Jose
Thin cutting disc through the slot, bolt now in two halves, head falls out
Great success!
Thin brass drill bit in the remainder, one end at a time
Out we come!
Threads undamaged, new bolt accepted, victory is mine.

Other brands of rotary tool are available.

Brass? Was it a TiN coating?

Used mine a lot recently for cutting out rusted sill sections on my van in hard to access areas.

Changed my life man...

Brass coloured, guess it's unlikely to be actual brass...
