Visiting my parents at the moment. Flew back, so no bike. My brother came up for the weekend as well, so we borrowed my parents' bikes and went out for a spin.

I ended up on my Mum's cheap, step-through frame hybrid. It has one of those collosal saddles that are like trying to pedal while perched on the edge of a saggy sofa. Top-tube was ridiculously short.

We climbed up the big hill out of town, rode through a scenic glen on a twisty, narrow road with a big descent at the end. Weather held-off for a typical Scottish slate-grey, dramatic sky.

****ing brilliant ride.

Took a group from our climbing club round North Manchester/Hit the North country yesterday.

One girl turned up on a Falcon 10 speed hybrid, complete with ally mudguards and big flappy panniers.
She rode everything, Rooleys Chin, Preparation H, all with a huge grin and a great attitude.

Other bikes in attendance were a nearly original Saracen Tufftrax and an old rigid 21 speed Claude Butler.

Did they have fun? Oh yes.
No breakages, no whining and a great day out.

Ever had the feeling we're all being conned?
