Evening
thinking of going down the hub gear route so was wondering how the alfine differs from the nexus?

The Alfine is designed for off road use where as the Nexus is designed for city / comfort use. The Alfine has better sealing than the Nexus and if you use a Nexus off road the hub won't be covered by warranty.

I think the shifting and overall build quality of the Alfine is better. The Nexus is an earlier design I think. I have an 8 speed Alfine and it's very good, but could do with longer gearing - maybe the 11 speed is better ?

different clutch on the alfine too - smoother.
