Hi Folks,

A bit of a random one ....... do any of you know if the Alfine // Nexus range of IGH share the same cable pull ratios?

I appreciate an 8 speed shifter won't give you the 11 options of an 11 speed shifter but would/should an 8 speed shifter work with a 4/5 speed hub.

The limitation, like with a derailier, is at the hub end so in theory is the cable pull is the same the shifter will just stop.

I'm looking to add a trigger to replace the cumbersome 4 speed twist shifter brake combo on a bike.

Thanks for looking - if you have 😉

M

Not sure but Microshift might do a compatable trigger shifter. I brought a 7spd Nexus bike back from Denmark that my sister in law now uses. It was only later that I noticed it was a Microshift not Shimano shifter.

This is the sort of encouragement I'm after - thank you TJ.

I'm hopeful an 8 speed shifter will shifter the 5 gears of my Nexus hub.

Nexus and Aldine 8 are compatible.

Aldine 8 and 11 are not, and the pull is reversed too, I think.
One pulls from hi to low, the other from low to high.
I think.
