After a long wait, huge cost and Madison supplying parts that weren't compatible, my Alfine is back up and running. £80 to get the small cog that failed!!!
This means I now have an almost complete set of innards in the toolbox, so should anyone break theirs it is quite possible I'll be able to help.

That is all

How did you break it? Mine slips a bit now in 6th and the cones need tightening up. Oh, and £80 for a cog is an utter pisstake, obviously.

One small planetary gear shattered, possibly due to sub-zero temperatures and Madison would only supply the (wrong) complete (unnecessary) ring gear.

Yours probably just needs a service and re-setting, it would seem that they need some TLC after a couple of years.

Heh, good point. My normal service policy is just ride, break, repeat 🙂
