[Closed] Alfine 8 weirdness.

So I'm having a few issues with an Alfine hub I bought off the classifieds. I have no issue with the seller, I'm sure it's just one of those things, but I'd like to get to the bottom of the issue.

There is a bit of graunching and skipping in the bottom gear, but I think if I get the chain tension and chainline right I'll mostly have that sorted. The big surprise is that the gears have started doing odd things in their ordering.

For example: The gearing ratios as you pedal seem to go up in the wrong order - 1,2,3,1,5,6,7,8.

Any thoughts or experience on this?
