Hi
The Alfine 8 on my Charge Mixer has just developed a possible fault.
I was having trouble with my front brake so I gave it a service yesterday. This involved bleeding the brake and then turning the bike upside down to remove the wheel.
Since I've done this there is no longer a positive 'click' when I shift down (or is it up when you got from gear 8 to gear 7??? :-)).
The result of this is that I need to stop pedaling for the hub to change down. Before this the hub would make a positive 'click' noise and pretty much change down without the need to stop pedaling.
It's as if some kind of return tension has gone? A spring buried somewhere?
Cheers
Sean
Kinked the cable? It will stop the inner sliding freely.
Also check the hub is properly set to the yellow marks.
That's assuming you haven't broken the shifter.
Weird.
Removed the wheel and cleaned up the cable shifting mechanism. This didn't solve it.
After lots of head scratching, moving the cable etc, I loosended the shifter and put it in another position. It now works as it was before???
Maybe the brake lever and shifter bodies were tight together which was causing the problem? All I know is moving the shifter on the bar sorted it.
Happy. ๐
