I could see the air ambulance from my gardn this afternoon. It was circling, then landing near Cragg quarry. Was it a biker, or one of the Parageezers?
Anyone have any idea? It was on the ground for a long while. 3-ish.
IF its for anyone seriously injured, then lets all just wish them a speedy recovery!!!
We really don't need any other details!
I think they must have Gisburn, Lee & Cragg set up in the favourites on their SatNav by now.
Hoping whoever it was for is okay but have to say I was surprised up there yesterday with the number of people, some on supermarket bikes but some on high end gear, that where riding without a helmet (or t shirt!) those trails are not forgiving if anything goes wrong
Apparently though this is 'riding californian styley baby the sun is out man' (think he was probably from Bacup and definitely missing a little something ๐ )
If he was from Bacup then i can almost guarantee he wasn't missing toes - quite the reverse i would say!
#Or fingers come to that, does make the sister-shaggers rather good at bluegrass banjo picking though! ๐
there was some shirtless lidless locals up at lee quarry last weekend too; good jump skills and that mind.
as silly as you (or we) may think it is, the wearing if helmets clearly isn't that important to some folks, even in the rocky high-risk environs of the quarry playparks.
Scottchegg ,I've just moved up to lumb ,anychance of showing me some local routes ?

crezzy - I would think so; you're right in the middle of some good gear there.
Drop me a mail, and I'll do what I can
Yep, you're just off the MTL, head up to Deerplay Moor, can go left over Crown Point or right up onto the moor proper and head over to Calderdale or even drop down towards Burnley and then up to the Long Causeway. Could even pootle back down to Waterfoot for a spin around Cragg. Ideal MTB location, nearly as good as Weir, (mile over the hill and slightly higher ๐ )
That would make it 6 weeks on the run that the AA has been up to the Quarries.
