[#10458399]

Good morning everybody
I'm in doubt about choosing a 27,5" stanton or cotic or.....other the market could offer...
i want to put on this new frame some of the components (full shimano xtr 3x9 2011 group) i ve not already used....i love to climb mountain on mtb, i'm using now a strive 27,5 by canyon with aluminium frame but it's an enduro bike, yes it climbs but.... i d like to love again the uphill part of my mtb days...normally i make a full day bike with about 70-80-100 km riding road(25%), offroad (75%), going up lil 1500-2000 m s.l.m.) so i d like to go back to a steel superb frame able to give better emotions and pleasure when climbing....
the frame i ve decided to buy is the stanton slackfline 853 next gen:
https://www.stantonbikes.com/product/slackline-853-elite-frame-fork/

i,d like to have a 27,5 frame so i can use the two pair of wheels i still have for the strive...

Anyone can give me information about the slackline 853 next gen 27,5? is it the bike i could use for the full day, getting on and off in the mountains?

thanks and bye

It's probably worth checking if you can get a 3x9 on these bikes. I'm pretty sure I read that the latest Cotics are 1x only, although that might have been the Rocket, not the hardtails.

I have the Stanton Slackline and it's brilliant, although I don't ride anywhere near as long distance as you so not sure how it handles that.

Have a look at Pace. Have just built up a RC127, and its quite a thing. For me it hits the sweet spot between response and comfort. Great for the climbs and just enough to make descents fun.

It's been replaced in the range by the RC627 now, and a good price on the rolling chassis is on offer iht now.

I'm certainly interested to know if any of these bikes will take a front derailleur......

Hey Tipo,

I have a next Gen Slackline and have run it with 2x10 set up no problem(currently 1x11). They are really nice frames and I think it rides really nicely, lively, nimble and comfortable as a hardtail can be i guess. I might have been tempted by the Pace but there are somethings I just prefer about the Stanton like the paint finish, cable routing etc.

Depending on your size there is still 20% off the Taiwanese frames

Hi Solaris Mx can take a front mech. Cotic website says:

Front Mech: 34.9mm band on, high clamp, Shimano Side Swing only

Hope that helps with your choice!

Never tried it but I can't see a reason why a mkV Soul shouldn't clear multiple front rings although I can't see why you'd want to!)

Mine is hands down the best climbing MTB I've ridden. No you won't win XC races (at least not powered by my legs), but it's so well balanced up hill you can just keep winching through all manner of chunder that should have you off and walking, but somehow doesn't. Most of my riding is similar to yours - decent length days out with plenty of big ups and downs, but the occasional road section to link things together.

It's also a bit handy descending ๐Ÿ™‚

The Pace frames can take derailleurs, says so in the frame manuals.

hi dear friends
i ve already wrote to Stu of stanton, they told me that is possible to use a 3x front qranc set, i have a brand new qranc set by shimano xtr, with his bb included it seems to me too stupid not to use it....
i think my decision is made, stanton slackfline next gen with fox 34 fork and hope set of wheels.....i will put the picture when assembled....ciao
