Haven't ridden the Wall since before the long closure for harvesting.
Thinking of taking the kids there instead of Brechfa - time for them to have a bit more challenge, but don't want it to be too big a step up.
One has done Penhydd, but with that closed (?) thought we'd go for the Wall. Was it damaged during harvesting / rebuilt differently? Not realy wanting a trail with lots of drops and rocks - which it wasn't...
No recent harvesting so pretty much identical to the last time you rode it.

I didn't say "recent" harvesting.... I last rode it before the circa 2 year closure - 2007 or so??
well y'know, up n' down.
Thought somebody on here said most of the climb is temporarily on fire roads a few days back, might be worth looking at Whites Level a couple of miles further up the road.
Rode it 2 weeks ago, we did W2 twice.
Lots of drops and rocks - IMO no - Like all of AFAN it is very rollable and you can stop and walk a bit if bottle goes.
However I love Whites - fantastic climb.
I rode afan last weekend. As already mentioned it nice and flowy with not too many technical climbs. I was absolutely shattered when i rode it, as a result rode into a couple of trees, but none of it is bad enough to cause a problem to new riders as long as they are confident.
There is one bit at the end of the ride which is very challenging but if needs be you can just get off and walk.
Have fun!
Rode it yesterday, as a matter if fact now being a kinda local down here (staying here till end of Nov/Dec probably) have ridden it couple of times this week. It's fun for a blast, most of the climbing is on fireroad there are a couple of singletrack climbs, which as others have said are rollable, the descending I could best describe as rollercoaster like, with I think the only bit they may struggle on is a small section on the graveyard which is a series of large rocks/slabs, but you can always dismount and walk around that part, I enjoy it and I think that it is short enough to allow your kids to have a go at, and there is always the fireroad if they feel out of their depth or you need to bail. I took a neighbours lad (15) who is newish to biking there yesterday, he thoroughly enjoyed himself, and with stops to offer him pointers and for food, it took us just over 3 hours.
Yay - fantastic day out. Parked at GC and rode down to do the Wall. Well chuffed that the kids managed it all (well youngest pushed some of the last descent on zig zags)
Ohh, and it was pretty much exactly as I remembered it 8)
