Awesome. Rode W2 yesterday. There's a short new bit connecting 373 to Graveyard on The Wall too, fast with a few bermed corners.

It was my first expierence of a trail centre and it got me hooked. Really pleased for the surrounding area.

Sorry, the second link works.
Nipper, they're probably trying to build a fast, fun trail to appeal to majority, I think it looks like an exciting new addition.
Kona, some parts of the penhydd trail are being reused but the whole trail won't be reopened.

Penhydd will be back winter 2013 I think.
Rowan sorrell is going to be on the project so should be good.

While the recent developments at Afan (Rookie/Blue) haven't been that impressive for the average rider, it's still good to see ongoing development rather than more trail closures. A skills loop where techniques like jumps/berms can be practiced is most welcome, and I can't wait to do a few loops when it opens.

Lets hope they / Rowan keep Penhydd (Or what ever derivative) true to it's roots. Techy / Flowy / Smiley and most importantly natural, oh and something as good to ride at night please (Well thats my Christmas list done, not too much to as is it?) ๐Ÿ˜€

Sorry, not that impressed - the bermed section looks like a Skatepark.

My favourite trail at Afan was Penhyyd, flowy and technical in places, sections such as The Hidden Valley, Sidewinder, Genesis, and Bubble & Squeak all brilliant.

The other trails just lacked it for me I'm afraid - Whites from Glyncorrwyg (sp) being best, The Wall would be better without the 15 minute canal path pootle.

All IMHO of course.

Some good and bad news, if I was informed correctly by the guy in the cafe bike shop.

Penhydd - will be back, but without the Hidden Valley section unfortunately.

Wall - there will be an alternative to the long flat fireroad section, apparently there's already something there is you look for it (but I didnt last time I was there).

There's an article in MBR about it, and talking about the new Bike Park Wales, which is sounding good. There's also a good article in STW about trail centres in general this month, with a suggestion that riding Blue routes is actually better bike "training" than riding faux-natural, wannabe-tech Red/Black trails. Not all will agree, but worth a read. The main focus was obviously Llandegla...

Looks good to me, obviously not meant to be a full-on trail/Penhydd replacement as some people seem to be confused with... Having a decent skills area in a trail centre makes a lot of sense to me, something else to do there as a change of pace from the XC trails rather than something to go there solely for (unless you're local).

Looks ace to me - one of the things I want from a trail centre is big swoopy bermy stuff. If I want natural I can ride natural!

As a skills practise area it looks fun, and will attract some different riders to Afan. It compliments the existing set-up in my opinion, especially when Penhydd re-opens with some of the old sections included (Sidewinder etc).

Well done to all involved in the projects. Great news. There was always something totally magic about Afan that put it in a different class. It's been heartbreaking to see it slip for whatever reasons. I hope they can bring it back to it's former glory. Looking forward to seeing all the good work soon.

Little bit more news on the wall.
I rode the original trail yesterday and can't wait for extra bits to open.

The best thing out of this is that investment is ongoing & that can only be a good thing.

Who knows in 20 yrs Afan could have a network as good & as big as anywhere.

The Wall is the best trail there at the moment, I never get tired of riding it. There's a new red trail going in as compensation for a new windfarm near Skyline too, which should boost Afan's long term appeal. And there's always the secret stuff, the only real 'black' trails at Afan ๐Ÿ˜‰

If it's not too much to ask and I promise not to publicise it, would a PM with some "hints" be a possibility please?

not being hugely criptic as I dont know where all of them are but i remember a few vids of them on you tube with some clues - try searching afan gully run or afan farside or trial drop or medic .. Think i found a few like that a few years back - a local will be allong in a minute to tell me i have the names all wrong im sure
