hey folks.. thinking of getting down to wales for a weekends riding and was thinking of doing the two above centres.. and nant-y-arian.. driving down from scotland on the friday, heading out to do one of them on the sat then another one ( or 2) on the sunday, then back up the road on the monday.. is this possible as im not sure of distances between centres?
Also, any advice on accomodation would be mucho apreciated.. 🙂

Yep, cwm carn in the morning, W2 in the afternoon.
Then drive to Brechfa the next morning, ride then hit Nant y Arian in the afternoon.

Sorted.

Yep - they are 45 mins drive apart. Gazillions of B&B's in Afan.

Considering its possible to ride all 7 stanes in 24 hours including the road sections between them, you're in with a chance with Cwm Carn and Afan 🙄

Lets us know how you got on, as I'm thinking of doing a similar thing in North Wales.

Cwm Carn/Afan one day and Brechfa the following sounds like a pretty good weekend to me. Twrch at CC, W2 at Afan then Raven at Brechfa. Seems as your new to the Welsh trail centre thing, one good piece of advice is don't get lulled into a false sense of security, don't leave your bikes unattended and don't leave anything of great value in your van/car. My mate recently had his custom trek session 88 stolen from his van in broad daylight on a CC as he rode the Twrch on his trail bike, countless people have had bikes stolen from afan/glyncorrwg area.

Was down there a couple of weeks ago, did The Wall and Whytes on the Saturday, and Cwmcarn on Sunday morning - then drove back to Norfolk. Back home in time for dinner 🙂

If you go to Brechfa on the Sunday, ride Cwm Rhaeder (sp?) in the afternoon, it's only a 7 mile loop and you'll probably want to do it twice.

I just find it odd that you want to come all the way down to south wales and ride a trail centre when theres so much to ride up your neck of the woods.
If theres another reason to be in the area, fine, like a wedding, interview, etc. but I certainly wouldn't make a special trip to ride a couple of trail centres 5+ hours away.

Yeah, Scotland must have awesome riding too - I live in Norfolk, so pretty much have to drive hours in any direction to find anything that resembles a hill.

You have the "black" route at Thetford don't you? 😉

Piece of piss.

We drove 260 miles, rode The Wall and Whites, then drove home in under 12 hours.

Bit of a let down to be honest, way to manicured for my liking.

very easy to do. last nov i found an excuse to go to cardiff (i'm near lands end) so took the bike shot up to cwn carn, did a loop of the xc, did my business in cardiff then headed for afan. camped at glncorrwg(hardest bit was finding some food, drove for miles just to find a chinese chippy). woke up early and did whites. with nore time could've very easily kicked around then do an afternoon run around the wall or something.

and don't forget that as you join the motorway as you come from afan there is an excellent outlet village thats worth stopping in. vans and then a starbucks to fuel the drive, can't be bad.
