Thread is a thinly disguised excuse for me to gloat that the sun is shining and I have a weekend of riding planned. Staying at Afan lodge for the full experience, any recommendations for pubs/local entertainment?
Which trails are in the best condition?
What are conditions like in Afan and Brechfa?
Brechfa red should be really dry & fast. Black will always have a bit of mud in places, but overall should be good.
Black Lion Abergorlech is a great place, start the ride from the Abergorlech car park and enjoy the best descent last, then a nice trip to the bike-friendly pub.
When round whites yesterday, was lovely untill it got dark and we had no lights.
Afan lodge has a nice bar/restaurant. You could taxi into port talbot for some "culture" ๐ฏ
If we don't get any precipitation (superstition prevents me saying the "r" word) then the trails should be perfect. Afan is a bit decimated at the moment though with only whites and the wall intact ( a days riding at best). Skyline has many forest road diversions (it has a lot of forest road anyway!) and penhydd is closed. I reckon they will lose a bit of business this year if they don't pull their finger out.
Thanks for the info.
Our vague plan it to do the Wall and Whites on Sat, then hit Brechfa on Sunday.
We'll take your advice about the Black Lion in Abergorlech, sounds like a nice way to end the weekend with a pint!
If you get to the Black Lion early enough then the Sunday lunch is awesome. A little later and they do nice sandwiches and after 7pm on Sunday they do Pizza, which rock! ๐
mini hi-jack... does anyone know if the cafe above Skyline Cycles is open yet ?
