Nice that Dave. Awesome bit of kit and some real good potential for some cracking footage.
Its a good venue to film I guess, being so open.
I was up there last Sunday and saw you buzzing about.

Video= 9 points
Music= 1 point ๐Ÿ˜‰

Look forward to seeing some more. ๐Ÿ™‚

I aint not pop guru. I am open for suggestions for the full video. I would like some local stuff so suggestions would be great.

The lack of trees was a big help, but they dont bother me to much, its just about trying to plan the shots, which I did not really have time to do over the weekend and my leg injury prevented me for getting further down the track, so I will be revisiting with a story board of shots more kit and a couple more camera men

Thanks for the comment.

Dave

Revolution is a fantastic place. Very wooded though in the top sections. Would imagine filming with a helicopter would be difficult.

What kind of copter are you using? I've built a bunch of Mikrokopters for people doing this kind of thing, in fact got a Hexa XL in the shop at the moment. Great fun ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice one; saw you up there on Sunday.. that copter looks like a few quid's worth!! Looking forward to seeing the full video.

Is this just a hobby or are you shooting for a magazine or the centre?

@ Chvck the revolution looks lke inners.. Roots 'n'all!.

@Kayak23.. its not a helicopter. Its a multirotor platform. Trees are not to bad as long as I dont hit um. Dynamic flight is a tad more difficult but catching jump shots etc is a breeze.

@bencooper. We have 4 CAA registered craft with another 4 possibly 5 going through the process which is a pain BUT to operate legally then for paid work you have to be a qualified UAV pilot with permissions for aerial work from the CAA. We have had this since the beginning of the year. The craft I used for the shoot on sunday was a DroidWorx ADX3HL carrying a Canon 550D and Sony CX730E and a small DJI F450 chase quad with GP2 / GP2-3D. Personally I think MK have lost the plot.

@ theroadwarrior. We shoot commercial footage /stills/ IR and take air samples for everyone and their dogs! Yes we are a commercial outfit but I have been mountain biking since the 80's. I was in Wales to shoot some stuff commercially but the weather stopped the shoot, some guys on the caravan park told me about AS so I went along talked to the guys there and well the rest is as it is. Do you have any head cam stuff from the sunday? I could do with some for the longer version I am working on. I am doing this for the love of it and cause I love filming DH action. I used to chase film for mtbvideos but I am to old and broken now!

Dave slightly off topic but can you fly those things around power lines and similar structures?
How high can they go?
I've just had a work related idea!

@aerialvue - yes, the CAA thing is a pain - though as I understand it it depends on use. I don't get into that side of it, I just build them. Interested why you think MK have lost it, though - I like them, though the Droidworx stuff is gorgeous. When testing, I've mostly been flying with a Sony full-frame and ultra wide lens for stills, 'cos that's my thing more than video.

@iain1775 - with care, and with the appropriate permissions, yes. I've built them for companies and the government H&S laboratories for structure inspection and sampling.

@ Road warrior.. u got any footage?

@iain1775 - Yep can do, have done. EVERY ONE has a use for them.. well almost.

Aye Up Gazza.. u on for canada next year? I aint been on my DH bike for over a year so I doubt it!

@bencooper. CAA a pain.mm not the pain as the plonkers out there flying over the changing of the guards and stunts like that that wil get us banned. CAA is a necessary progression for commercial flight.

I've built them for companies and the government H&S laboratories

So U live in Glasgow ish?
I built and flew MK for two years, well built and pulled my hair out. Now I spend more time flying than sat on a crap WIKI!

So where else woulf be good to film? Molfre? I have seen some stuff FlyingZaxis has done there, nice and open like Antur Stiniog

the plonkers out there flying over the changing of the guards and stunts like that

I didn't know that one - yes, stuff like that is just stupid and it's not surprising the CAA want to keep an eye on it. A problem is that, while these things might look like toys, they can do serious harm in the wrong hands.

Ah, yes, the Wiki - that's one reason I get work building the things, people buy the kits then find that some of the info they need is in German, or doesn't exist. I've built 20+ of the things by now, so pretty well sorted with it, though some things still throw up surprises. Today's job if I have time is getting the telemetry to work on an Aurora 9 transmitter.

Yup, I'm in Glasgow.

Have you tried flying with FPV? I know some people who have done that for flying chase through trees. I know them 'cos they keep wrapping their MK around a tree and then I get to fix it ๐Ÿ™‚
