So my LBS phoned me today saying the 32t Race Face wide narrow chainring I ordered on 18 August has finally arrived. So now i need a rear-mech, shifter, chain, cassette and possibly one of them there large sprockets the size of a dinnerplate. Is there anything else and/ or bargains out there?
Has anyone done this anything I should know etc..

Clutch mech is paramount
An 11-36 cassette should be enough. You can get mech, shifters, chain and cassette from Merlin for 100 notes
Do I need a long/ medium or short cage mech?
Medium or short will be fine. The ones cheap at Merlin are long cage.
I went the other way,didn't notice any real difference,other than the price of everything .............
I've not lost my chain yet with a Works thicky thinny & non clutch X9 rear mech. Mind you if I was buying new I'd get a clutch one just to be sure.
