Are cyclocross wheels different from road wheels?

I have a spare set of Ksyrium Equipe wheels and I want to put some different tread cx tyres on so I have a spare set for racing. I've seen loads of spare sets in the pits that are similar so I assume they will be okay. Is this correct?

Thanks in advance.

MM.

Yes they are the same. Loads of guys run standard Shimano, Campag, Mavic, etc road wheels.

You can, I see plenty of people running standard factory road wheels.

Fine if they are for racing but if you are using them day in day out on terrain more suited to a mtb than a cyclocross bike you may shorten the life compared to just using them on the road.

I run a cheap pair of Shimano RS30s...
Pretty bombproof even with my 100kg + Bulk on top of them..
