Will I need shorter chainring bolts?

Depends on the chainring you use... Normally, yes you will, but some rings, particularly the 30T 104BCD chainrings, are offset to avoid the chain rubbing on the chainring tabs, and actually require you to use the normal length chainring bolts.

Quite a few single rings com with bolts now anyway.
The OneUp I just got for my xtr cranks came colour matched ones.
That said new bolts are pretty cheap.

Having fitted one this morning I can tell you no standard bolts fit
