Any experiences with these yet? I have a rear Mudhugger which is good but a pain to get on and off and the Ass saver looks more manageable. However does it still provide a reasonable level of protection for the aforementioned ass?
I put one of the ones that clip under the saddle on, got off and knocked it off, same thing happened 2 more times before it came off permanently.
It currently zip tied to a 20 inch bike doing starling service keeping most of the puddles off my wee one.
I'm back with a massive Mudhugger on my bike.
A curse on auto correct!
Do you mean the original Ass Saver that clips on your saddle?
Or the Win Wing that clips on the seat stays?
The former has always been useless IME, the latter was pretty good on my gravel bike - and I may try the MTB version on my HT this winter.
Yeah, it was the Win Wing I was thinking about. I agree the original was pretty useless, just kept a tiny strip dry .
I have both the MTB win wing and the gravel one, both on MTB's. the gravel one does a decent job, can touch the 2.25 tyre if I'm riding something quite lumpy at speed, but it's not really designed for tyres that big. otherwise it stays where it should and because the fin is light, doesn’t swing about noticeably.
The MTB one is larger, with a wider fin. it does move about side to side a fair bit more than the gravel one under similar conditions, but I've only heart it tap the side of the tyre occasionally when I'm rattling down something very bumpy.
it's not got the coverage of say a mudhugger, but it keeps your bum dry and isn't a big stiff lump of plastic that will eat your frame if it's not fitted quite right.
Depending on how your frame is configured, it may protect most of your dropper post, or may not.

New ones come with Velcro Straps, so are easier to remove & refit. Also my latest (VS) one doesn't seem to vibrate as much as the previous (smaller) ziptied version
Big fan of the Win Wing here. Excellent, all things considered.
I just bought a Win Wing MTB based on Sanny's review on here a month or so ago. Yet to fit it though thanks to continued dusty trails.
However does it still provide a reasonable level of protection for the aforementioned ass
For the ass yes, for the top of your back or your legs no. But they don't claim it does. It keeps your bum dry and grit free and a little more but don't expect it to give Mudhugger leaves of protection.
For what it's worth I prefer the gravel win-win on my HT

I love the Win Wing, you've just got to be a bit realistic about what it is. It won't fit everything well, you basically need a little luck there. And it's a very lightweight thing which means occasional weirdness, like if you ride through heavy water it can get really knocked about just by the sheer weight of the spray. Every so often it buzzes the tyre if i have it mounted exactly like I want it, which is quite close- which makes an annoying noise but doesn't actually matter at all.
But the lightweightness is also why it works so well, normal guards you're always fighting weight to avoid flappiness, and also all that lightness and flex means it's very survivable and it doesn't really matter if it buzzes the tyre. And being able to fit it in 20 seconds is awesome.
I don't think it's really a replacement for a full on Mudhugger or similiar, it's more like the rear equivalent of an arch mounted guard. But that's fine because I got fed up with my mudhuggers on most bikes and stopped using them.
Experiences here fit with what I’m expecting when I put one on my FS next time I’m out.
A friend squeezed a gravel WinWing on his FS the other week. It seems to do an OK job.
I figured a WinWing would be a lighter and less cumbersome alternative to the zefal rear mudguard I used on my previous bike.
Ordered one last Friday with the STW discount. Arrived yesterday.
