Have searched the net without much luck so I thought I'd try the STW hive mind.
Cardrona and Traiquair hotels are an option but something more group oriented would be ideal.

Peebles Hydro? They seem to have rooms for 5 and 6 people on the roster; didn't check with your dates, granted. (And may not meet the 'group oriented' requirement brilliantly if you are looking more for a bunkhouse type of place)
Hydro looks good. I'll get back to you on the basement and Gordon's Arms aren't big enough for us unfortunately.
The wigwams at GT. Depending on how cosy you want to be you can squeeze 5 in a wigwam but realistically 3 is more comfortable. Cosy, warm, can have a fire right outside. Good facilities on site with communal kitchen building as well as showers and toilets. Riders Retreat (formerly Glentress Hotel) next door for food and drink.
Glentress trails right on your doorstep, Golfie and Inners are a nice pedal along the cycle path.
