On the advice of my physio wife, I used tape to keep mine in the correct position when I did mine. This is the advice I would give too now.

is the tip of your collar bone now sticking out the top of your shoulder??? if so this the same injury as i had this time last year. I just used the NHS sling i was given by the hospital for two weeks and then was told use it when i feel i needed too. couldn't lift a coffee cup for a week or so but was back riding gently in four weeks and riding near granada in spain eight weeks after the innitial crash.. When sleeping at night i led on my back with a pillow under my elbow, was uncomfortable but got used to it.
was very disheartened to start with but my Mrs was a star and now it doesn't really give me any problems. Never had the op they offered me, 6months ina sling and 9 months off work wasn't reallistic for an op that was 100% guaranteed to hold.

all the best fella, how did you do it???
i went over my bars on my DH bike.

^Only just saw the reply, no doubt get told off for bringing back an old thread.

Just want to say thanks for the responses.

matty, that's good to hear, my injury is the same as yours, but not as severe, i think. My collar bone was sticking out the top of the shoulder immediately after the crash, but i guess it popped back in somewhere after 30mins or so. i has been 2.5 weeks now, still has its painful moments, it has a lot of strength still, just a little poppy and painful.

8 weeks sounds like a promising time scale for me. Got an alps trip 6 weeks from the initial crash. So assuming mine isn't quite as bad as yours was, hopefully i should be good. Plus just finishing uni and having a planned month off before starting work, should give me lots of time to get strong for the alps.

Mine was done BMXing, DJing to be exact. Jumping a 15ft long, 6ft high jump, whilst going 6ft+ above it, in cruise control, then realising you're nose casing too late, attempting to ditch the bike, then feet catching on bars. No fun. Was the worst pain I felt, I fall often, this was something else.
