I don't think Aber is large enough to warrant taxis 😆

My son's student flat is on the seafront at Aber - lovely location 8) . Has to pay rent throughout the summer but not permitted to move back until September - I'd hazard a guess it's not standing empty though 🙄

Enjoy!! It's a very very nice place.

there are some nice flats to rent on the other side of the harbour
its called the marina district or something,

also bnb available at the glengower hotel but its not so classy does have bunk rooms though

pubs..... well rummers by trefechan bridge is good, one of the oldest buildings in aber too

lord beechings opposite the train stations not bad

the inn on the pier is a bit of a locals haunt but hypnotising watching the starlings weave around the pier or a big storm crash anround, the new bistro above that also has good views and foods not bad
for a propper welsh night out saturday is usually farmers nieght at pier pressure the club on there too, its a riot, literally
downies vaults is an ok old man type pub
the accademy is a converted church, make of that what you will

warning: my student days were many years ago and ive only been back a couple of times so i may have it all a bit wrong

either way after popping into a greasy spoon on pier street its essential that you have a hungover walk to the top of constitution hill and a greasy burger at the cafe on top (you can get the funicular down but you have to walk up)

edit
oh yeah as its you cfh the angel as you head up towards the castle is the local rock pub

edit edit you may also be able to rent out rooms in halls if you can teh student village (pentre jane morgan) is prob your best bet but its at the top of the hill and pub arent so great up there

If you’re after something a little more rural than central Aber the Glynwern guest house in Llanilar has a self-catering house attached that I think sleeps 8.

Doesn’t seem to appear on the internet that much so you might have to phone to get the full details

Glynwern Guest House, Llanilar
Aberystwyth
Ceredigion
SY23 4NY
Tel: 01974 241203

Beautiful location right on the river Ystwyth with some big hills all around (see photo below from the weekend)
Don’t know the prices but I doubt it’s expensive
Has some garages
About 20-30 mins walk to the local pub
5/6 miles from Aber
Run by a very friendly but slightly potty lady
Good sewin (sea trout) fishing in the river, which is also perfect for stone skimming

Disclaimer. I’ve not stayed there but know the area very well and have known the owner my entire life (she’s always been potty) so the place may be an absolute dive. I spoke to some people who were staying there last week and they didn’t volunteer that it’s awful but I didn’t ask either. They have been going for the last few years though so they must be vaguely happy with it.
