[#2021119]

is it really worth spending more on the different DX lights?

Will a single bar lamp be enough or should I get a head torch too. If so which headtorch? I've got quite a limited budget.

Have no experience of the newer version, but it does 'look' to have a better mount, and the battery should be better sealed, but then this one has the 'old' head unit and new battery:

Off-hand I doubt there going to be much in it output wise, it should be purely be down to the reflector (same LED), so it'll be the 'spread' not the overall output that will be the difference. So either will be good, but if I was buying now 'I'd' be tempted to go for the newer one (purely to get the latest - hey I'm a gadget whore).

A single bar unit is more than enough to ride by & quite quickly, but then ppl used to ride with abysmally small amounts of light quite fine (or still do & say were corrupting the universe by riding with too much light).
Personnally I use two P7's when riding fast normally & am happy as larry (well ok, I have a small Troutie on order too - I did confess to being a G_W above).
Get one and look at getting another later if your strapped for cash, but don't waste your money on fenix or tesco light (they had there day but it's gone now), just save the cash and buy another Magicshine or DX P7 torch later IMO.

Cheers. I'll do just that. Quite looking forward to my first night outing in the woods.
