Took a spin up there last night to see why. The drifts go on like this for about 2 miles

Wow - the south side of the Pentlands has acted as a bit of a barrier - took a tramp up White Hill on the North side last night & it was only up to the waist in 1 or 2 'drifted' spots.

The drifts were like this most of the way from Silverburn to 9 mile burn
no wonder the gritter got stuck. You could see where they had used a JCB or similar to move the snow and dump it over the walls where possible.
