At the top we have an SDG Bel Air, which has never caused me any grief, even on 100 miles of the SDW. But I just cant get the huge curved tail out of the way when doing more technical riding.

At the bottom, we have a Ragley Cheeky, which is a real pain in the arse to be honest! I don't know whether its because of the lack of padding or that it might be too narrow. However, its a great 'technical' riding saddle.

I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest a saddle that got the same flat profile as the Ragley but with more cush or width?

Cheers,
Andy

The picture makes the it look like you fitted the saddle with loads of 'nose up'.
Thats likely to make any saddle uncomfortable.

After years of changing saddles I went back to the WTB.

whenever i need comfort i fit the charge spoon its a great saddle and you can get it for £20 new...

although the back of the spoon is relatively wide because of the shape its very easy to get over the back of.

Another vote for the Spoon saddle. Started to find my WTB saddles a bit overpadded which made me sore...tried the Spoon then bought a second for the other bike 🙂

Use to like the Charge Spoon but went back to saddles with a decent grove down the centre due to numb bits 😳

I agree with on and on, I reckon the SDG at the correct angle/adjust will see you right. Have you exhausted fore/aft options too?

I have 2 Bel airs and love 'em. Had to take a little while getting the angle right for both the road and mtb though.

Nowt wrong with the Bel Air imo - have you tried dropping your seat post on technical stuff to get the saddle out of the way?

+1 for the Charge spoon. Have them on both MTBs and the road bike. The leather finish model is very hard wearing and still going strong after 2 years with the occasional polish.

+467 for the Charge Spoon here, excellent even before you take the low price into account.

I've a Bel Air too, which is also rather good.

A good saddle does need to be paired with decent undershorts for best results though.

Have a look at the some of the Specialized saddles - Phenom would be a good start

Great, I'll check out the Charge Spoon then. No love for Fizik saddles though?

I've tried all kinds of saddle positions, finally settled on a bit of nose up. Its on a 140mm hardtail anyway, so sagged its not so severe. I have my seatpost 1" down compared to road/commuting use - any lower and it feels really odd. maybe I just need to persist...
