So, if I had a frame bag AND a top tube bag (Restrap Race).

Is it a nightmare to get the velcro straps to fit??? Especially if removing the bags often.

I'm thinking if the frame bags fitted, it'll be tricky getting the top tube bags velcro in place.

Or is this just not an issue???

It’s going to depend massively on the bag/strap setup, surely?

Revelate frame bag and little topeak top tube bag a bit fiddly but fine in my case- annoying if you were fitting it weekly but for holibobs once or twice a year no real issue.

They often provide measurements on their website so you can work out if the straps will interfere. Ladder loop bags are good as you can use the same velcro through both bags where they are adjacent (although becomes fiddly if you want to remove one of them mid trip i.e valuables in the top tube bag)

I know where you're coming from. Buying both of the bags from the same manufacturer might help as they should have been designed to work together. In practice, I find it's not too difficult unless the frame bag is (over)packed. With an empty bag it should be possible to create enough gap between the top of the bag and the bottom of the top tube to get the velcro through and matched up.

I had this problem so bought a bolt on top tube bag. Then put some rivnuts in the top tube. It's not as scary as it sounds. I bought a kit from ebay which included a selection of rivnuts and the insertion tool. Just spend plenty of time on a peice of scrap to get the correct size drill. My bag is a Restrap one. My frame is a steel Surly Wednesday and was surprisingly easy to drill.

I have done it. It took a bit of modification but it worked and of course custom made ones can allow for this

I'd happily drill holes in a Surly or On One steel frame, less so with my Giant carbon frame...

I've taken the plunge, if it's a sh1te fit I'll send the top tube bag back.

Cheers for your input.

Next to no hassle with mine, you will need to feed a strap over/under the other bag but that's about it (Blackburn frame bag, Restrap top)

So, just to update on this. I purchased a Restrap Race top tube bag to compliment the Restrap Race frame bag and unfortunately when on the bike the front velcro straps line up exactly opposite each other meaning that I can't use the main fixing point of the top tube bag. A bit if a shame really as I like the bags and the waterproofing they offer. Could easily be remedied by using webbing loops on the front of the top tube bag, which they use in the rear. I'll likely return it and seek an alternative. I've fed back to Restrap.
