how much does it make your legs hurt.....?
it may be that i am using flatties, but i think it is because riding in the snow is worse than mud riding.
my quads feel like i have done a serious squatting session in the gym. 8)

pedalling just to keep moving on the downhills means no rest too!

Yeah, it hurts me too. I made the mistake of taking a 29er singlespeed (32:16) out with flat peals on it and I was pooped after an hour of riding in 6" deep snow.

I felt soo unfit.

It is nearly as bad as riding through sand.

My local ride is 13 miles and takes roughly 1 1/2 hours in the winter.
Took me 2 1/2 hours yesterday and my legs today are in a mess, cramp after cramp after cramp.

the difference being that it doesn't damage your transmission and it's softer to fall on 🙂 Also it looks nicer.

That's a down right lie Mr Barnes. It might look all fluffy and cute, but it seems to take on the properties of concrete when you have a fall coming.

Legs OK, feel it in my arms though.
