[#7192887]

Woke up early and thought go for an early morning ride. After 5 mins was on the local tarmaced cycle path. After another minute I was on my arse. Front wheel slipped on a hidden patch of mud, both knees bleeding, jacket ripped in a number of places, done something to my hand as can barely move it and snapped an XTR brake lever.

I obviously don't have the requisite skills for this type of riding...

Book a skills day with Jedi?

It's similar to the curse of "one last go" where everything has been going fine & you decide to try that jump etc one more time before moving on. Inevitably disaster looms.
you are at your most vulnerable when the track/route is so innocuous/familiar that you do it on autopilot without actually paying attention.
GWS btw

Damn I don't like the look of that cycle path I'd go around it. A letter to council about it's dangerous condition is needed.

You might get a better response from pinkbike or mtbr. Not many on here who can comprehend that level of rad.

650b? Sounds like the trail came a bit too "alive" and didn't like being woken up

Sounds like you need a no win no fee lawyer, it is clearly the councils fault. Especially as your neck is now starting to hurt from the obvious whiplash. 😀

XTR lever? Sounds like you weren't on a gnarmac, disc equipped road/cross bike.

Console yourself with an n+1 purchase.

Get well soon.

I've looked really hard, but I'm afraid I just can't see the hidden mud - it must have been really well camouflaged.

I hope your mend quickly.

Could you not see it due to the Wimbledon sized chip on your shoulder obscuring your vision?.
