First ride out today on the rebuilt 'gravel bike' salsa vaya. new wheels, tyres, shifters and bar tape.
on my way to meet the others, took a corner, maybe 20-25 kph, huge bang, tyre rolls off the front rim, skid on the rim for a second, and hit the ground.
BIG road rash on the elbow, smaller grazes on ankle, knee, hip, shoulder. was worried at first that i'd done my collar bone. luckily i haven't.
guess whats damaged: wheels (front rim a write off), shifters and bar tape. ๐
So even though the internet told me it was fine, i'm not sure that NON tubeless tyres, are that much fun tubeless.
Ouch!
What was the setup?
Ouch. Sorry to hear about that OP, glad you avoided any serious injury.
At the pressures required for road tyres, non-tubeless compatible tyres definitely do not work without tubes. Surprised you got as far as you did to be honest. Where on the internet did it suggest this would be OK?
stans crest with bontrager CX0 38c.
this guy was happy with them - i am not. I'll be putting tubes in.

only run 40 psi - assumed this would be low enough. obviously not.
