I put a wanted ad on Freecycle last week for a road bike, finally got a message yesterday from a pleasant bloke saying he had a bike in mostly working order. I thought it would be too cheeky to ask what it was but thought as it's only ten miles away I'd roll the dice, hoping it might be something half tidy like an old Dawes or Raleigh.
I turned up at his house and he was there waiting with a nice Cannondale R500, needs a clean, a tweak of the gears and the perished tyres changed but for free.... 😀
Makes a change to see someone giving stuff away on freecycle instead of trying to scav cars, computers, fridge freezers and the like off people with shit excuses like ' my son got told off for not doing his homework, can I have anyones spare computer?'
