I wish I could ride a BMX like this, and if I could I'd definitely be wearing a helmet. Is it really that uncool to wear one these days??

Some riders are coming round, pretty common to see dirt riders wearing a skid lid especially after Mike Aitken took a bad knock to the head. Street is a different way of thinking, wearing a helmet is a little like having a safety net to a lot of riders and having to commit fully is part of what makes it what it is. A helmet takes away from this.
