[#3721450]

I have a set of 160mm air Lyriks on my Cotic BFe and I'm considering getting some form of all travel spacer kit to drop the travel to 150 or 140mm.

So question 1 - Will I actually notice any difference if I drop to 150 or is it worth just going to 140? 160 is nice but very wandery on climbs which is what I'm trying to address a little.

Question 2 - Can I actually do this? I have seen that places like tftuned sell the spacer kits - is there a way to make or get cheaper spacers? It seems a lot of money for a couple of bits of what I presume are plastic. (I got the forks from a mate for very cheap and I'm not exactly flush with cash!)

Question 3 - The high (? it's the big blue knob!) speed compressor adjuster won't move at all. Is this a case of it's become stiff/jammed from sitting in a shed for a year or 2 and just needs persuading or does the control bit need a rebuild?

Any help very much appreciated and thanks for any help!

convert them to coil uturns. best forks ever for not much weight penalty.

I dropped my 170 air Lyriks down to 150 using the travel spacers, still as supple and smooth before with a reduced a2c which suits my bike better.
The blue dial is very stiff and the grip on it really cuts into your fingers when changing it. Obvious point but you have tried it in both directions?

I've dropped a set down to 140 (on a BFe too!) using the Rockshox spacers from TFTuned. Seems to work just fine.

The blue dial does get stuck sometimes. Advice from the (respected!) suspension dude in the local shop was to use "persuasion".

Thanks for the replies, I have indeed tried both ways but I've been a bit worried about using much force. I'll have a go at "persuading" it to move tomorrow I think! Converting to uturn coils is quite tempting I have to say!

edit - Having just looked up the prices to convert to coil I think I may pass up on that one!

I use the turn on my coil uturns on every ride.

My BFe works fantasticly with 140mm Pikes I couldn't imagine needing/wanting any more travel on it. It climbs fine with them but better when lower. I would like to try Lyriks set at 140 on it, It would be great if there was some way to have 140mm U-Turn Lyriks as in 95-140mm travel. That could be the perfect fork for the BFe.

As for the High speed compression knob I would take the adjusters off and give them a good clean inside and out. Reassemble and then see if it will turn. If it wont it will be something inside, could be worth dropping the lowers and changing the damping and lube oil anyway.

I think that I might convert to coil in time when I have a bit more cash spare. When I had uturn via a set of pikes i just never bothered changing the travel so I'm not that bothered about adjust-ability on the travel side of things. I have dropped the lowers and refreshed the oil, had a look at the seals and changed the oil in the damping and everything looks good bar that one knob!

Yes. 140 may be even better for 'all round' riding, but you will notice the dropped front end, which may affect how you ride.

Pretty sure you can.

Without looking at it, absolutely no idea.

I have a set of lyriks with a creaky steerer sat in my shed, I'm sure we can come to an amicable agreement on the u-turn parts. Email in profile if interested.

Have coil uturn Lyriks on the BFe, usually around the 150 mark. Lovely forks. A mile better than the Black Box team revs, air uturn race revs, pikes, Sektors etc that have been on it in the last 5 months...

pikes er broke or something
sektors pogotastic and flogged sharpish.

Hey all, revisiting this as I've got round to doing it. I can't afford to convert to coil uturn at the moment 🙁 so I'm going for a set travel air. All of the spacer kits say 2010 & later on them, my forks are 2008. Is there any reason why they wouldn't work on the older forks? I'm assuming that there is and is there another solution if so?

I can't see it being a problem. The spacer I used was from some 2008 Rebas on my 2011 Lyriks
