is there any differance between the two.
i need a 12/28 cassette.
all i can find is a mtb one.
will it be ok.
I've run MTB cassettes on road bikes with no problem.
it's a good old roadie cheat that one.
i was mocked viciously by friends of mine when i voiced the opinion that i'd quite like a triple chainset on my road bike - for those times when i'm miles from home, my legs are spent, and there's a couple of big hills between me and my sofa.
it turns out the hateful B8stards have been using 28tooth mtb blocks for years...
Who does a 9 speed MTB 12-28 cassette? Not come across any of those.
Shimano SLX?
The HG80 comes in 11-28, as do some SRAM ones. No problems sticking one of these on a road bike as the spacing is identical. Plenty of DHers out there with 12-25 road cassettes as well obviously. Only thing that matters is the capacity of your mech(s).
Ive got a 34T XT cassette on my road bike ๐
Just make sure your rear mech can handle the range on your new cassette.
Oh, as zaskar says its also fitted with an XT rear mech.
The HG80 comes in 11-28
So it does, that wasn't around when I left the trade!
I've done the other way round road block on DH bike.
so when im road riding / commuting on my mtb with forks locked / slicks on - what road cassette can i use? am using current XT mech n xtr shifters
and if i have a 2nd wheelset with the slicks on could i have a road cassette on it to swap over or would my indexing be out?
cheers
